Dian Page column: Baer, Scray honored as Women of Vision

Baer, recognized posthumously, was a doer and philanthropist who also was honored at the 1998 Women of Vision luncheon. She was an active supporter of First United Methodist Church and Heritage Hill State Historical Park, where she took a lead role in the restoration of the Cotton House. She was a founding member of Bellin College of Nursing and served on the board of Paper Converting Machine Co.

Baer was recognized for her dedication to family, friends and many organizations in the Green Bay community, including the YWCA. She died in December.

Scray, a Realtor at Shorewest, is a past president of the YWCA Board of Directors and TEMPO. Also a member of Management Women Inc. and Friends of the Green Bay Symphony, she was honored for enriching the lives of others through her friendship and service to the community.

The women join 52 other community members who have been honored since 1998 at the luncheon with a "dedication of the day." The dedications are given to individuals who have been chosen by friends, families or associates as worthy of recognition.

Women of Vision is comprised of individuals who are annual donors to the YW and companies providing unrestricted philanthropic support to the nonprofit service organization's operations.

Joan McLester, Specialty Rolled Metals, is the newly elected president of the board. Other officers are Cindy Moon-Mogush, Aurora Health Care, past president; Patricia Chase, M&I Wealth Management, vice president; Barbara Miller, Heritage Hill Foundation, secretary; and Lisa Cribben, Wipfli LLP, treasurer.

New board members are Bridgett Golman, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College; Rebecca Lesperance, The Salvation Army; Tracy McNabb, Parker Coatings; Annie Raupp, Godfrey & Kahn SC; Patricia Sandoz, Stellpflug Law; Sheila Burke and Nancy Watts.

Also on the board are Inga Arendt, Wipfli LLP; Rebecca Baer-Redling, Schreiber Foods Inc.; Wendy Franklin, Schneider National; Joan Kinate, Wells Fargo Bank; Jill Pruski, LaForce Inc.; Teresa Rosengarten, Baylake Bank; and Pamela MacMullen.

Patrick Curran serves as the YW's interim CEO, and Moon-Mogush is board president.

» Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin has named Nolan Blecha of Green Bay as the Outstanding Achiever for May.

Blecha came to the Ashwaubenon Goodwill Retail Store and training center about five years ago through a special needs program at Green Bay Southwest High School. He was referred to Goodwill's Work Services program through Brown County Human Services, which is a longer-term training program for people with disabilities that uses Goodwill as a work site to develop their work skills and behaviors.
