Q: Who IS that? A: Theresa Madaus, putting the "Mad" in Mad King Thomas

Name: Theresa Madaus
Twitter: "I can't handle twitter on my own, but Mad King Thomas tweet at @madkingthomas , and occasionally I'm partly responsible."
Website: "I blog on Mad King Thomas' baby website, aptly named madkingthomas.com ."

What's your job?
"I'm one third of the choreographic collaboration Mad King Thomas, with Tara King and Monica Thomas. So my job title (if I were pressed to provide one) could be 'Co-Artistic-Director' but is more likely 'Royal Wrangler of Unicorns and Chief Blowhard in the Ministry of Patriarchy-Smashing' or something like that. We make dances, which means sometimes I'm watching Shirley Temple on YouTube and sometimes I'm helping Monica hot-glue fur into polar bear suits, and sometimes I'm writing down whatever hilarious thing Tara has said over beers on the front porch—a.k.a. rehearsal. I perform with Mad King Thomas and sometimes for other people too. I have a burgeoning drag character named Rock Scissors and he has a drag character named Dolly Pardon? with the question mark intact. But let's be honest, I also have to pay the rent, so my other job is as a server and manager at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis."

Other than your job, what are your claims to fame?
"I co-founded The Crawler Art Center with Monica Thomas, a fabulous museum and performance complex, complete with a gold wall and parody to spare in glamorous South Minneapolis."

Where are you most likely to be seen?
"Anywhere there's an interesting dance show. Bryant-Lake Bowl, Red Eye, Intermedia, the Walker, the Southern—at least, before everything fell apart. I miss Bedlam! I'm dedicated to dive bars at large; Grumpy's in particular for karaoke and Liquor Lyle's for 2-4-1s and the ensuing adventures."

With what people are you most likely to be seen?
"Monica Thomas and Tara King! On stage, in life, pretty much all the time. I hang out with a lot of the post-modern dance crowd, but I'm willing to be seen with anyone who will wear gold lamé."

Where were you born?
"Milwaukee, Wisconsin—but I spent most of my childhood in Cody, Wyoming, so that's where I consider myself from."

In what neighborhood do you live now?
"Lyndale!"

What's your ride?
"
100% bicycle! Year-round, city-wide. Ninja Speed Pirate is the name of my summer bike; my winter bike doesn't get a name.
