Sportsmen's Saturday tickets go on sale

Tickets are now on sale for Sportsman Saturday on Oct. 29 at the Lexington Historic Southern Railway Freight Depot on Salisbury Street. They cost $100 each and are available at Lexington Medical Center's foundation and administrative offices, Childress Vineyards, the Bob Timberlake Gallery, Parrott Insurance, Davis Chevrolet, David Fritts Outdoors in Welcome, Tilley Harley-Davidson in Salisbury, NewBridge Back in Lexington, Wallburg, Tyro and Arcadia, Bank of North Carolina, BB&T, Sink Farm Equipment, Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce, High Rock Outfitters, Lexington Barbecue, Lanier's Hardware and the Richard Childress Racing Museum.

Lexington Medical Center with honorary chairmen Richard Childress and Bob Timberlake will present Sportman's Saturday on Oct. 29 at the Lexington Historic Southern Railway Freight Depot on Salisbury Street. Proceeds will benefit Lexington Medical Center's physical therapy department expansion.

Sara DeLapp, LMC Foundation president, said she expects the event to be a success. DeLapp estimated around 500 people turned out for the inaugural event and says she expects a larger crowd this year.

"We're extremely excited to be bringing this to Lexington again," she said. "Last year was just an exceptional event. We sold all of our tickets last year by the early bird (period). It's great to be able to bring all these people into Lexington."

Doors open at 11 a.m. with food and beverage provided. Tickets are $100 each with more than $85,000 in prizes scheduled for drawings throughout the afternoon. Those who purchase tickets by Sept. 15 will be eligible for four $1,000 early bird drawings and a Kawasaki mule ATV. Early bird winning tickets are placed back into a pool and are eligible for main drawings. Only 1,700 tickets are available.

Highlighting this year's event is a live auction at 1:30 p.m. with NASCAR VIP tickets and a Timberlake original watercolor painting up for grabs.
